The full text of the Iranian ambassador's letter to the UN and the UNSC chiefs is as follows:
In the name of God, the most Compassionate, the most Merciful
Excellency,
It is with profound sorrow that I would like to draw the attention of the United Nations Secretary-General and members of the Security Council to yet another tragic terrorist attack that was carried out in Iran during the early hours of today, 15 December 2023.
This heinous crime targeted the Rasak police station in the Sistan and Balouchestan province, resulting in the tragic martyrdom of 11 Iranian police officers and inflicting critical injuries on 8 others. In the aftermath of this reprehensible act, the terrorist group "Jaish al-Adl" claimed responsibility for the assault on the police commander's headquarters in Rasak.
The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns such abhorrent and atrocious acts of terrorism, reiterating its unwavering commitment to ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice and held accountable.
The Islamic Republic of Iran urgently calls on the Secretary-General and Security Council to condemn the attack unequivocally and in the strongest terms possible. This appeal aligns with the Secretary-General's consistent and clear stance, as well as the established practice of the Security Council, which has consistently recognized and reaffirmed, through resolutions, terrorism as a grave threat to international peace and security.
The Islamic Republic of Iran remains steadfast in its commitment to fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
I should be grateful if you would circulate the present letter as a document of the Security Council.
Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
